Description

Everybody has anxiety.  Anxiety is a normal human response to perceived danger.  But if a senior is experiencing anxiety when there is no real threat, there may be an anxiety disorder diagnosis that requires treatment.  This interactive seminar will discuss the different types of anxiety disorders including that impact older adults including, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.  Symptoms causes and treatment options will be covered extensively.

 

This course is suitable for both beginning and intermediate levels.  There is an introduction to anxiety disorders in seniors that can arise which is necessary and appropriate for beginners.  It also applies to intermediate levels expands upon the introductory level, focusing on the physical, cognitive and emotional impact to the senior and their support system. The course will also review effective interventions and resources available.
