Description

Healthcare providers struggle every day to successfully and ethically treat patients with personality disorders.  Since personality disorders take on new dimensions as a patient ages, there are unique challenges in working with seniors diagnosed with them.  What are the ethical dilemmas that overwhelm healthcare providers?  How do we treat the senior with empathy while ensuring that appropriate boundaries are in place?  What are the best practices for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams while honoring our individual professional ethics?  Join us for this thought-provoking program designed to improve your understanding of ethically treating seniors with personality disorders.

This course is suitable for both beginning and intermediate levels.  There is an introduction to understanding normal mental health aging vs. personality disorders which is necessary and appropriate for beginners.  It also applies to intermediate levels as it expands upon the introductory level, focusing specifically on the codes of ethics and effective strategies for management of working with this population.
