Progressive dementias are terminal. From the time of onset patients suffer a slow death starting with cognition and ending in bodily failure. Families, as witnesses to this slow demise, suffer along with them. It is important for professionals to understand the stages of dementia and how to incorporate palliative care throughout each stage in order to provide optimal care to both patients and families. This interactive seminar will focus on enhancing skills and knowledge on this very important topic to allow families and patients to receive the optimal care at this stage of life.

This course is suitable for both beginning and intermediate levels. There is a beginner as it applies to palliative care and stage of dementia. It also applies to intermediate levels as it expands upon the introductory level, focusing on the caregiver living a more positive life and using that to help effect a better clinical outcome for their patients & clients.
