Communication is the foundation of a healthy working relationship. We need to know our clients in order to develop this relationship and build trust. This interactive program will allow participants to understand why communicating with older adults is different from communicating with younger adults. There are several aging processes that can interfere with communication. Participants will work on positive communication responses and gain he essential skills for successful communication with older adults.
This content is suitable for both beginning and intermediate levels. There is an introduction to communication techniques which is necessary and appropriate for beginners. It also applies to intermediate levels as it expands upon the introductory level, focusing on the differences in communication with senior and their younger counterparts and the impact it can have on a therapeutic relationship.
