Description
When someone dies by suicide it’s always a tragic event, not just the individual but also for families and the community at large. Suicide impacts middle aged and older adults die by suicide more than any other age group. This program will cover causes, risk factors, and best practices for screening and preventing suicide in the older adult. Also addressed will be the very real phenomenon of suicide contagion and when high-profile stories and media events can contribute to risk.
This course is suitable for both beginning and intermediate levels. There is an introduction to mental health issues which is necessary and appropriate for beginners. It also applies to intermediate levels as it expands upon the introductory level, focusing on the suicide risks and prevention strategies to help effect a better clinical outcome for their patients & clients.
